Opera at The Marsh

The Marsh Street Centre, Clarksburg’s nostalgic performance venue, is the venue for Georgian Bay’s 11th Opera at the Marsh. Organizers bill this event as “highly appealing to those who want only the most dramatic moments” of the opera repertoire--those pieces known for giving goosebumps to non-opera fans.
The concert’s Producer, Walter Kornelson, smiles as he describes Georgian Bay’s love for “that song from the airline TV commercial”… and so he faithfully programs Lakme’s “Flower Duet” on every year’s program. Kornelson also asks YouTubers to take note: The program includes the aria that Paul Potts sang for his Britain’s Got Talent audition, “Nessun Dorma.” With 100 million hits for Potts, the aria never fails to thrill—even hardcore metal fans—as online comments prove. “Hearing this aria sung live is one of the most exciting moments in music,” says Kornelson. This is the only opera revue to be staged in Georgian Bay, and our program appeals to all ages: music students, music teachers, singers, seniors, fans of Glee… and all romantics,”
